Stolberg Day 7

Stolberg Day 7

I find that the most overwhelming and exhausting and hardest thing to do is doing nothing. Boredom kills me. I am dead tired when I get back to the hostel. And that’s not good, cause I need to study. Ughhh… I’m not complaining, I love Germany… but I simply cannot adopt here. Oh well. Aachen is really nice, but it’s also not my type of city. Mhm… uffff. I miss the North… 🙁

Stolberg Day 8

Stolberg Day 8

Today was boring. AÄ KD told me I should hang around with her today. We had lunch together. She explained everything I didn’t understand. As we were eating, she asked: „So is there like someone back at home who used to talk to you in German as you were little?“ The Question perplexed me. „No…? I’ve just been studying it in the last couple of years and like… I got really into it… but…no.“ „Wow. Cool. You speak perfectly.“Thank, K,…

Stolberg Day 9

Stolberg Day 9

Today I studied for a little bit and then I went to Aachen. But before anything, I had my lovely breakfast. Oooh cheese… And fig-almond-walnuts yummy for my tummy. I really wanted to find a bookshop. And I did. Then I had to buy some new jeans. I hate doing that. They’re either too long, too tight, too elastic (what’s the deal with these elastic new jeans?! I really hate it. Jeans have to be rather thick and stiff, to…

Stolberg Day 11

Stolberg Day 11

Today was ok… but I cannot make this place a home. One of the AÄ was telling something about a patient today “you know, the one with the East-European accent??” I was also there. Well.. what should I say? I have such an accent. I don’t like it either. Great. Now I don’t dare to say anything. Oh… Sometimes I think I’ll never find something for myself. I can barely speak any German.

Stolberg Day 12

Stolberg Day 12

I am crying. I went on my balcony and took a look around. I am in Germany. I’ve got sun in my life. I am here thanks to my efforts (and Certa). We had German, Romanian, Italian and Spanish patients today. The last ones could only speak English, no German. In the morning I had to talk to one of them in English. Then came the Spanish patient and I talked a little to her in Spanish. I got the…

Stolberg Day 13

Stolberg Day 13

Today was ok. The CA asked about Certa, my plans, how fast I would get my Approbation and so on. Then he said I should apply for a job there. Woooow. That meant a great deal to me. Honestly. I was honoured. But I don’t think I’m good enough for it. I don’t understand everything they’re saying. I didn’t have this problem up North, but here… their German is a bit difficult for me to understand. Then followed a whole…

Stolberg Day 14

Stolberg Day 14

Today was rather boring… One of my VIPs said I should stay here after the exam. Nope. I need a break. Aachen was ok, but not my thing. Too noisy, too dirty, no nature, just buildings and shops and many many languages all around me, no order… Not for me. I’ve already been to other big cities in Germany… Munich, Berlin, Dresden… smaller cities Lübeck, Schwerin, I was in Baden Württenberg and I got to visit a couple of cities…

Stolberg Day 15

Stolberg Day 15

Today was rather short. Just till 1 pm. I went to the CA to thank him for the opportunity and everything. He was really nice and said once more that I should apply for a position there (I mean Stolberg/Eschweiler). It really honours me. Then I had lunch at Living Restaurant. Pretty good. AÄ SH, KD and MG were really nice to me today. But I had a problem with one of the patients. I am not going going to…

Stolberg Day 16

Stolberg Day 16

The exam is coming. Fast. And instead of studying, I need to pack .. Jeez. Arghhhhhh… I have no clue, what I’m going to do next. I have no plans for after the exam. And I can’t seem to find a solution for my luggage issue. I guess I’ll just leave everything here, but I would rather take it to Cologne. Too complicated. I miss my discipline. But I guess I’m too nervous now. I went for a walk with Lin….

The Day Before The FSP

The Day Before The FSP

I went to the staff department in the morning in order to collect my Hospitation certificate. Before I got in the cab, all my stuff fell down in mud. Sh*t. Great. Now everything’s wet. The driver came and I didn’t see him. He didn’t see me either, so he went looking for me in the hospital… He eventually told me: “Today just isn’t your day, is it?” “Nope. I just hope tomorrow is.” And then I went to the airport….

Exam Day

Exam Day

I wake up. God. 2 am. I need to go back to sleep. But I don’t know how… Counting stars, counting stars… So said one of my VIPs. 7.30 am. I made it. I have slept. Good. At 1.45 pm I am meeting Herr Karbownik. We’re probably going to practice the anamnesis. Uuuuff… I’ll just walk to the central station and get something to eat. Coffee follows. I prefer Starbucks, but it was too full. And I wanted to do…

The Day After The FSP

The Day After The FSP

I wonder if it hurts when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. I wonder if it knows it’s not the end, it’s just the beginning. If it cries thinking its body has betrayed it. Last night was hard for me. Everything bad that’s happened in the last days is back. I kept asking myself some things. Doubt was there. Despair was there. Quitting was there… I didn’t want to wake up. I just stayed in bed and cried. One of my…

Cologne

Cologne

I arrived in Cologne. But I had some important errands to run today. I need a new medical certificate that I need to send to Hamburg afterwards. It’s already 3 pm. Must eat something. Sorry, nothing spectacular today. I craved KFC. Then a long walk through Cologne… really beautiful city… So I must make up my mind now. Where to next? I need a vacation. Relaxation. Joy. Freedom. Freedom. That’s it! I’m going back to Hamburg. North. Home.

Vacation in Hamburg Day 1

Vacation in Hamburg Day 1

Today was a hard day for me. Travelling. 2 suitcases. God. I’m crazy. I just strolled through the Europa Passage. And I had lunch at the Hanoi restaurant. Prawn soup and Mango-Coconut duck. The prawns were fully peeled. Congrats. Finally, a place that does that. And the sauce was so creamy… yumm… Oh, Hamburg my pearl… I love you. THIS REALLY IS MY LIFE 🙂 Thank you Certa.

Vacation in Hamburg Day 2

Vacation in Hamburg Day 2

Today I woke up in my beautiful Hamburg. Yesterday I was too tired and nervous. Two weeks in the North. Finally some relaxation. I booked a room at one of the hotels (Condor) near the central station. “Never a good idea.” said one of my VIPs, but it’s not that baaaad. There’s always something to eat there and the Old Town is about 300 m from me. And the Internet is the fastest I’ve ever had in Germany. I have a…

Vacation in Hamburg Day 3

Vacation in Hamburg Day 3

It was snowing today in Hamburg. And it was warmer. Perfect time to take a walk. I went to Miniatur Wunderland. So. Miniatur Wunderland is really nice and I found all the details so be fascinating… But. There’s one more thing. If you really pay attention in there, you’ll find some sexy things too. I found 5 rooms like that + one nude beach. Hint: they are all in Germany. MiWuLa is a MUST. Then eating. Once more. Karo Fisch…

Vacation in Hamburg Day 4

Vacation in Hamburg Day 4

Today was not so interesting. I wanted to eat something different this morning so I went to the central station and bought some yumms. The well-known Franzbrötchen – specific for Hamburg, then one Kopenhagener and one Schoko-Softy Brötchen. I couldn’t eat it all, but I really wanted to try them out.     Last night I couldn’t finish my video, so I stayed in until 14.30 trying to do that. I finished it, thank God. It’s not perfect, but it’s…

Vacation in Hamburg Day 5

Vacation in Hamburg Day 5

Today was so beautiful! We went to the Behörde für Gesundheit und Verbraucherschutz, in order to collect my Approbation. By 9 am I was already standing in front of the door. I went in. Mr G was really nice to me. In 5 minutes we were already done. I had my Approbation. I am now a doctor in Germany. Mr G came out of his office… „Frau Dr LittleDoc… don’t you need these?“ I had forgotten my gloves. I am…
